Results for Bisphenol A

Increased synaptic abnormalities, aberrations in recombination, and disrupted regulation of exchange placement in fetal oocytes

Subjects: C57BL/6 mice

Chemical: Bisphenol A

Low doses tested: 400 ng/dy

Route of administration: delivered through implanted pellets

Exposure duration: gestational day 11.5 – gestational day 18.5 (comparable to human prenatal development from approximately day 1 of week 5 to day 1 of week 13)

Age of measurement: 18.5 days post-fertilization

Results for Bisphenol A

Increased number of oocytes in cysts with decreased primordial follicle number in mice exposed to 0.08 mg/kg. Increased oocytes per section of post-natal day 3 and subsequent decreases by post-natal day 7 at the 0.08 mg/kg exposure level. Various alterations in leptotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene, and dictyate chromosomal phases in oocytes at embryonic days 15.5, 17.5, and 19.5 in mice exposed to 0.08 mg/kg. There were decreased mRNA levels of Stra8 and increased methylation of Stra8 was observed embryonic days 13.5, 15.5, and 17.5 in mice exposed to 0.08 mg/kg.

Subjects: CD-1 mice

Chemical: Bisphenol A

Low doses tested: 0.02, 0.04 or 0.08 mg/kg bw/d

Route of administration: dissolved in DMSO and delievered orally

Exposure duration: gestational day 12.5 – gestational day 18.5 (comparable to human prenatal development from approximately day 1 of week 5 to day 1 of week 11)

Age of measurement: post-natal days 3, 5 and 7 and gestational days 15.5, 17.5, and 19.5
